A Brave Signing: Journeyman Liván Hernández Signs...
As a Braves fan, I couldn’t be any happier about this signing. Despite his career (174-176) record, Hernandez brings a sense of veteran savvy to the ATL rotation. No doubt about it. I’ve always appreciated how Hernandez has managed to keep his poise, pitching late into games despite playing on hopeless rosters. You have to feel good for Hernandez considering his journeyman career...

The Cause of Bee Colony Collapse Disorder
Educate yourself via cantstoplearning! BEEEEEEEEEEES! cantstoplearning: (Image credit: Jack Wolf/Flickr.) Mysteriously, populations of bumblebees and honeybees have been collapsing all over the world since the mid-2000s. In many regions, 90 to 100% of colonies have died. Many theories were put forth as to why: could it be human influence? An effect of climate change? Perhaps heavy metal...

MLB Opens Gates on 2012 Season with a Seattle...
Mariners are the best team in baseball…for now. In front of an electrifying sold out Tokyo Dome, 44 thousand+ strong rose to their feet to honor Ichiro Suzuki with a standing ovation as he jogged out to his familiar outfield territory. Although in America, the first official game of 2012 has been deemed the “Fake Opening Day,” this game—which counts towards the MLB...

Magic Dodgers
Dodgers sold! Magic Johnson’s bidding group won the battle to gain ownership rights of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Can’t believe my eyes seeing the price tag, reportedly worth a whopping $2.15 billion. If this is in fact accurate, this sale would be inked at the most expensive franchise purchase in the history of sports.  To put this price tag in perspective, Yahoo wrote a piece on...

Bad Ass College Band GIF
Traditionally, I’m not a huge fan of the Tumblr GIF frenzy, but I just simply had to share this one! One of my best friends was the kickoff specialist for the Oregon Ducks, so this one is dedicated to him!

The Daily Trap: Trap of the Day: Bountygate →
trapit: One thing I learned this week in the wild world of sports is that Roger Goodell—the commissioner of the National Football League—is an intimidating authoritarianwhen he is forced into a cranky mood. He let the world know who’s in charge of America’s most popular game.   After wrapping up a thorough investigation into the New Orleans Saints “Bounty Program” —in which players were given...

Trap of the Day: NBA Trade Deadline →
trapit: Image via Associated Press. The past 24 hours have been an absolute whirlwind of basketball hysteria—my head is still spinning this morning. Due to the NBA Lockout shifting the season’s schedule around, yesterday was the first day in basketball history that the March Madness mens…

Report: NY Knicks' D'Antoni to Resign
With the trade deadline lingering just 24 hours down the road, the big news on the eve of the NBA carousel is not an acquisition, but a departure. Mike D’Antoni has officially jumped ship into the rocky waters surrounding the Big Apple according to (reliable) Yahoo affiliate Adrian Wojnarowski. After dropping eight of their last ten games, the Knicks’ coach apparently can’t...

The Daily Trap: Trap of the Day: March Madness →
trapit: image via CHUCK LIDDY - CLIDDY@NEWSOBSERVER.COM For this trap of the day, it began as a staring contest—a blank gaze at my empty screen, blink-blink-blink goes the cursor. Honestly, I was tempted to simply jot down one giant question mark to sum up my insight on the greatest…

Trap of the Day: Team USA Soccer
The Jurgen Klinsmann era has officially kicked off and USA soccer fans couldn’t possibly be any more ecstatic about their team moving forward under the leadership of a new head coach.  This past Wednesday, Klinsmann led the men’s national team to one of the most historic upset road victories in recent memory, knocking off the Italians (1-nil) on their home pitch in Genoa, Italy. The...
