A glimpse at the Washington Redskins 1937 retro uniforms. Great move by Nike and the Redskins’ organization to pay homage to the franchise’s inaugural season in the nation’s capital. Hall of Famer Slingin’ Sammy Baugh made his DC debut after the team moved south from Boston after poor attendance rates following a (7-5) record and an Eastern Division title. The rookie QB—picked sixth overall in the 1937 draft—led the league in passing shattering the at-the-time record for pass completions with 81, an unprecedented method of attack of the endzone during this era. Despite losing two of their first four games, the DC Skins would go on to win their first NFL championship topping the Bears (28-21) at Wrigley field, capping off without a doubt one of the most historic inaugural seasons for any new look franchise.
